david song’s head shots

a friend of mine, david, is currently interested in getting into some acting and had asked me to take some headshots of him.  we met up in la to do the shoot, the lighting was some what decent and with the help of a reflector, the shots came out pretty well.  let me know what you think.

thanks to irwin and fred for helping out!

alms 2008 – falken tire

with the 2008 american le mans season long gone, falken is preparring for the upcoming 2009 season.  as our team prepares for an exciting new season with our brand new porsche rsr gt2 class race car, i took the time to remember last year’s season with some photos from various alms events.

in 2008, falken teamed up with black swan racing and their ford gt gt2 class race car.  although we were only the tire sponsor, there was an agreement that the car would be in full falken tire motorsports livery with the traditional teal and blue scallop theme.  the car stood out from the rest of the cars in the field and attracted a lot of new attention.  for one, no one really knew who falken was and second, the ford gt was new to the american le mans series with only one other ford racing in the series.  below are some images of the car…it was a pretty bad ass car.

below is a shot i took in las vegas of our new porsche rsr car.  although this is not the same car we’ll be using for the 2009 season, it’s practically the same car so i thought i’d give you guys a sneak preview of what it looks like, if you haven’t seen it already.  i’ll have some new photos of the new car posted soon.

rampage jackson for dub magazine

It’s been a few days since my last post so I apologize if you guys were looking for new photos to look at.  I’m going to try and post photos as frequently as I can so you guys can follow my photography stuff.

Anyways, about a year and a half ago, I was hired by a magazine company (I can’t really say which magazine) to take photos of Rampage Jackson right before his fight with Forrest Griffin.  This was supposed to be a cover shoot but because Rampage didn’t win the fight against Forrest, the magazine pulled the cover and used someone else.  Because of that, I really only have a couple of photos from the shoot that I did post work on.  The first one was going to be the cover and the second shot is a photo of his Audi R8…not a bad car to cruise around in!

Rampage is a really cool, down to earth guy.  I ain’t going to lie, I was pretty intimidated!  I mean c’mon, with a single blow to the face would knock you out…for good!  He made the shoot pretty chill and easy to do.  It’s too bad he didn’t win his fight against Forrest but he just won at the last UFC fight…I smell a major come back for Rampage!!

linda and soowon’s wedding photos

OK!!  So here are my first attempts at taking pictures at a wedding.  Although my friend Linda had hired a photographer, she agreed to let me take pictures at her wedding for practice in exchange for photos.  I’ve never actually shot a wedding so I had no idea what I was doing.  This was totally different from what I was used to.  Usually, I’m on a race track taking pictures of race cars…but the thing with race cars, I know pretty much exactly where the cars are going to be.  As for shooting a wedding, with people moving at will, I had to make sure that I was at the right spot to capture a moment that may be gone within seconds.

The wedding took place in the city of La Canada Flintridge outside of the La Canada Country Club.  Lighting was nice and soft since the sun was on its way down, but it was a little gray out because of the clouds.  The weather was a bit chilly, but all in all, it was a nice wedding and there was plenty of light out and space to take pictures.  In the beginning, I was trying to figure out which setting I wanted to use (manual, shutter priority, aperture priority, etc.) so I tried a little bit of everything.  I don’t think I’ve found the “correct” setting yet, but I have a better understanding of what I should be using.

So here’s goes nothing…hopefully Linda and her new hubby will like these photos.

los angeles clippers 2007

for the 2007 season, i was hired on as an intern to shoot some home games for the la clippers.  i have a friend that works for the head office so he hooked me up with the gigs.  although i only went to a few games, it was an awesome experience to be able to be THAT close to the players…i was on the floor right next to the basket!!  here are some of my favorite shots.

it’s crazy how we see things in frames but when you put the frames together, you get something totally unimaginable.  i guess that’s the beauty of photography, you see what you normally wouldn’t see…it’s like having a third eye.
